OK, it's time for a little break. This is a collection of vacation shots we took at a long weekend in Cape Cod (at a medical fiction writers' course). In our time off we explored Cape Cod, and later we went to Newport, Rhode Island, and while there toured one of the Vanderbilt mansions (The Breakers), which was absolutely astonishing - to think that some people actually lived like that. Of note is that, in the second to last photo, we have the "humble" guard's quarters visible in the foreground, with the mansion itself in the background.
Wonderful photos. The size of the mansion is really impressive, but the first picture has a special appeal for me.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the first photo. I can imagine it enlarged and framed and hanging on the living room wall of a gorgeous country cottage. The mansion is incredible, too! :)
ReplyDeleteStella and Vee, Well, I'm glad I included the first photo, for I, too, felt there was something about that scene - the morning in late autumn, just after a rain with the intense freshness in the air...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection of pictures. The mansion reminded me of Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots, that mansion is truly massive! For me the third shot really caught my eye, I love beaches.
