The Silence

Sometimes, when taking pictures of scenic things, I am asked what I am taking, and I reply, "I'm photographing the silence." Which seems to a bit superfluous, until the photos are visible, and then they recognize what I'm saying.

Some wildlife, part one

Well, this is the beginning of my wildlife review, with birds of Alaska; and birds, muskrats, monkeys and iguanas of Costa Rica. I hope you enjoy them, and apologies for showing some over again, from much earlier posts.

Alaska, Indistinctly

OK, I can only do so much in the way of people pictures, so this time, it's back to nature, with people figuring little. What I've done is pick what I consider the beauty of indistinctness. With each of these shots, the clouds/mist have contributed to something very indistinct about the surroundings. Hope you enjoy these shots.

In today's post, I've included some of my quirky, slightly off beat people pictures from our India trip. In the first picture, we find a somewhat 'ordinary' woman by the side of the road, alive with all the dignity in the world. The second picture is of a merchant, caught in a moment of private meditation. The next picture could be taken almost anywhere in the world - a very cosmopolitan outing, with two ladies and their young one. The next two are my 'tourist shots' in which we are entertaining the other tourists. And lastly - well, I really don't know what to say other than the look on the young lady's face says it all.

What I do in my "spare time."

This is one of my hobbies that I engage in, when I have some spare time. In this case, I painted this for one of my daughters, who wanted something from Costa Rica. I know, it's not realism (I don't really have time for that, and that's what cameras are for), but it's atmospheric, and feels like the jungle. Anyway, I'm not giving up my day job, don't worry.
